Electronic/ambient artist. I started making music more than random scribblings in the fall of 2010, around the end of November. I think I've come a long way since then!

What's the strangest instrument you know of? I'm not talking about a synthesizer, I'm talking about a real mechanical or electrical instrument.

Mine would have to be the oomphalapompatronium. If you have no idea what that is, then you should learn.

Hey Skye, you got me thinking on this one.
There are so many odd musical instruments & musicians out there in the world today, it's really hard to just pick one that suits as the strangest of all...

As far as the strangest I have seen though I would have to say that the Theremin is quite odd. I saw a Badgermin once that was a Theremin that was made of a Badger carcass. That was mighty odd, I must say. The Theremin is played by waving your hand in the air & it makes odd noises from the sonic waves that it creates in the air around the instrument. Strange? Yeah, I think so.

Hey there! I've seen a theremin. I haven't had the luck to be able to play one, but I remember watching a documentary about it. I think it's a pretty interesting instrument. Definitely strange.

I definitely would have to say that the "Badgermin" is the weirdest instrument I've heard of. The theramin is only a little less strange than the oomphalapompatronium to me, but making a theremin out of a badger carcass... well, that definitely wins.

Thanks for your input!

I think the ARP 2600 is a strange one.
It was R2D2's voice in Star Wars.

Bwee-bo-doo, dawwwwwww!

Oh, really? Well, that's pretty darn cool. What about the strangest non-synthesizer you've heard of?

How about a Tesla coil? Probably not the weirdest instrument, but definitely the coolest!

I didn't know a tesla coil could be used as an instrument. Looking it up though, I'm not surprised. That too looks awesome.
